Artboredom is the
portfolio + propaganda home of Chris Huller

This site is the dictionary definition of the word sandbox. Script conflicts, FAILS, and questionable behavior all leave a pleasant aroma. On good days you can see examples of previous web + graphic design projects.

More about me if you have the time!

Gettin' My CMYK On!

When you're staring at lines of code for days on end you need visual stimulus to keep your creative brain working at peak efficiency. Here are a few posters I've created for myself for others to see. I eventually may get some of these printed to offer them for sale.

Big Broken Hyphens

Extra-tasty Helvetica shirts available from the HOTKUNST webstore.

If you don't like Helvetica, there's a hyphen! And it's in the wrong place! Bad punctuation is so hot right now.

Swiss Font Porn

Trendhumping on multiple levels but when put together makes a fine shirt. Or at least one I want to wear.

The Webodega is open late to relieve you of your monetary denominations.

Dude. What's going on with your headers?

Artboredom is a reflection of my multi-faceted visualocity so I feel REALLY constricted whittling that down to just one, single representative image.

So I didn't. Give 'em a refresh and find out.

2008 Best Ever iPhone Apps Announced

Yay lists! Yay apps! Yay iPhone! Plus why I’ve gone iPhone zen and which productivity app won out, making me think I’m being productive…

I’m a sucker for lists. This is no different. 148Apps just recently released the results of their 2008 Best App Ever Awards for the iPhone. Lots of great applications on these lists, some of them I’m already using.

Unfortunately I’ve been slacking on the app front when it comes to my phone. I guess that’s a byproduct of hacking the shit out of it and stuffing everything under the sun into it. I’ve sorta gone zen with my choices now, sticking with things that truly help. By far my most used app is Things. I tried OmniFocus and while Things isn’t perfect for me, it did more things I wanted it to than OF.

New jQuery Content Glider and a Fail

Why I needed to change yet another part of my site and further issues getting Javascript libraries to play nice together.

The light on dark version of this site has always had a jQuery driven content glider installed. The first one used code from Dynamic Drive. It simply did the job. I still believe there’s no better way to handle content in a single space and still be SEO friendly XHTML rather than Flash. Unfortunately I couldn’t leave things alone.

While I liked most of what the first glider did, I wanted a different effect when the next slide was shown.  I wanted it to look like it was pushing the first one out of the way. The Dynamic Drive version just overlapped. There is a plethora of gliders out there and all seem to do almost everything I want them to.

HOTKUNST Shirt: Broken Hyphen

Why the big HK is making its debut on the ABD. Acronym city holmes.

I’ve been way too busy to do this up like I want but I simply don’t have the time to finish the official HOTKUNST website. That will have to wait until the New Year unfortunately. It’s gotta come correct though. So I’ll have to launch a few of these designs here on the Artboredom mothership dotcom web interspace.

Okay. It’s Helvetica Neue Heavy kerned extra-tight to fit it all in there. Incorrect punctuation is so hot right now so I had to hyphenate this in the most inappropriate manner possible. Scandalous. Shirt name is “Broken Hyphen.” Yes, that hyphen. Comes in a rack of colorways for the dudes, and a few tasteful versions for the ladies. All on American Apparel wearable canvases.
